praises to the Lord....

As we sit outside by the fire pit, yes I know it's July in Georgia but I really love being outside in God's creation, this is when I feel closest to God. We are under the canopy because it is raining and my wonderful husband wants me comfortable since it is July in Ga he has brought out a fan to give a cool breeze as the fire heats it up.

I'm sitting here talking to God and doing some soul searching.... this assignment this week has me pondering so many questions....

I was raised to believe in God and told of Jesus and all He has done for me. I was raised to be thankful and to cherish things in life as a gift from God. Yet, this question asks me to write some praises to God.... here I am asking myself " What does it actually mean to praise Him?"

There are so many times I find myself singing(yes off key) praises to Him but I ask is this really what He seeks.... then I read the psalms and hear David's heart as he writes and say YES that's part of praising Him.

I sit hear and listen to the birds as they sing their praises to God and realize as different as each of the birds sound in their praises, so does each of us. None of us have to praise God in the same way for it to be right. It has everything to do with our heart. As there is a verse that says "they praise me with their mouths but their heart is far from me". I don't know about you but I don't want to be found praising Him with my mouth but having my heart far from Him.

I praise you O'Lord for the forgiveness you have given to me and the mercy and Grace You give me daily. I praise you for the many blessings and for the new day You have given me to grow closer to You.....
